I started my blog one year ago today and I'm sorry to say that I haven't done as well as I would have like to have done. I'm still trying to catch up on the last 5 months of 2009 before going forward into 2010. Some may ask why I don't forget about catching up. Well the reason I wanted to blog is because I keep a journal and I have tried scrapbooking. Blogging is both of those put together and a lot easier, so now that I started on 2009 I can't just leave part of it off. I plan on making a blog book once in a while and my posterity who may someday read it would always wonder what else happened in her life the last five months of 2009.

The reason I have gotten so behind is because after suffering with hip, back and leg pain for several years and not being able find out what was wrong, I ended up in the ER the last weekend in September. They took an xray and discovered that I had bone on bone in my hip. After getting in to a specialist and finding out I needed a hip replacement, I had to wait 7 weeks before they could do the surgery on December 15th. My daughter Kortney was staying with us for a couple of weeks and she and her dad took really good care of me as I recovered. Jeff and Chell came and helped out too. They brought sweet little Briston over almost daily to cheer me up and he sure did a good job of that! Thanks to all of you, I love ya lots!! I have so many loved ones who called to check on me and I love you all! I have the best family in the whole wide world!! I have been recovering fairly well until a few days ago I had an allergic reaction to the aspirin I was taking to thin my blood to help prevent bloodclots. I got hives all over my body, my eyes swelled and my upper lip doubled in size! Itchy, scary, and miserable to say the least! Thanks to a good doctor, an IV and more meds, we got it under control and I've had a good 1st day of 2010!

4TH OF JULY FUN WITH FAMILY

This year Lance, Suzy, Barrett and Suzy's mom Vera, my cousins Joanne, Minnie and Joanne's husband Clark joined us for our 4th of July celebration in Round Valley. Jeff and Chell were our only kids home this year. The rest missed out! We started the day off with the parade. I have no proof we were there cause I forgot to grab my camera on my way out the door. Dang it!

Craig and I always have a cookout at our house after the parade for anyone who happens to come. It's a fun afternoon, usually topped off by watching fireworks, which we either drive so we can see them closer, or we just watch them from our back deck. Our company didn't stay for the fireworks cause they were staying in time shares over in Pinetop and wanted to get back over there. Sure was fun to have them for the day. Who wants to join us next year?!!

OUR TRIP TO COLORADO FOR KYA'S 5TH BIRTHDAY

Craig and I surprised our grandkids by showing up with Kindy and Briley for Kya's birthday party in June. They were so excited when they saw us! It was so good to see them and share in the fun!

We all went to "Build a Bear Workshop" so the kids could build their own stuffed animals. It was so fun watching them.

We stayed a few nights with Nate and Kindy before going back up to stay a few nights with Tom and Krista.

I was assigned to take care of Crew while Craig helped Krista put cages around the tomato plants at the stake farm garden spot where they were able to grow three long rows of veggies. As you can see, Crew didn't last long on my lap, he wanted to help!

NEW FISHING BOAT AND OUR GARDEN

Craig and Jeff have been wanting a fishing boat for a long time now, cause don't you know that when they are fishing from the sidelines, all the fishermen in the boats are catching all the fish!!

They searched and searched for the best buy and finally found it. They really have had a lot of fun in it, I must say! Jeff even has a seat reserved for his son Briston, even though Chell says it will be a while before he gets to go out on it!

Our square foot garden is looking pretty good, there is some green coming up!

PRATT AND KORTNEY ARE GOING TO HAVE A BABY!!

Craig and I were married 33 years ago on June 12th. We were getting ready to go on a little getaway to Flagstaff on Friday morning when we heard my cell phone make a sound letting me know I had a text message. Pratt and Kort had sent a text of an ultrasound picture with "Third time is a charm" written above it. She had 2 miscarriages before this pregnancy, so the third time was a charm! Yeah another precious baby coming to our family! That will be our 6th grandchild. Our last 4 will be born within 16 months of each other!! We love it!

In our area we usually plant our gardens on May 15th, which just happens to be my birthday! So on May 15th my good husband was out planting green beans, carrots, peas, and peppers in the grow boxes he made.

Kindy and Nate flew to Phx and drove up to our house with his parents to bless Briley on May 27th. Since Nate works on the weekends it didn't work out for them to come on a weekend. It was a special experience to have her blessed in our livingroom.

OUR ANNUAL FAMILY REUNION AT ROOSEVELT LAKE

Every spring we go as a family to Roosevelt Lake for a little reunion with our kids and grandkids. Salt River Project rents out the houses down by the dam to SPR employees. We get there Wednesday afternoon and stay 'til Sunday. It is tons of fun! There is a rec room and little store where we spend time playing and buying ice cream cones. We rent a pontoon boat one of the days we are there and spend the day out on the lake. The guys fish a lot and we girls visit and do crafts together. This year we went the second weekend in May. Tom and Krista moved to Colorado the first weekend in May, so they weren't able to be with us :( It was still fun, but we sure did miss them. We had a special treat this year though, Lance, Suzy, Barrett and Rosemary and her sweet family all came out and spent a day with us. Come again next year guys!

GRANDMA MASSEY'S 80TH BIRTHDAY PARTY

We had a surprise birthday party for Mary's 80th birthday at my niece Darbi's restaurant in Pinetop on May 3rd. Her actual birthday is the 26th, but this day worked out best and we didn't want her to suspect anything. Craig, Kindy and I asked her to go out to dinner with us. We took her to Darbi's where several family members were waiting to surprise her. She was totally surprised, she even cried! It was a fun evening together. It was extra special cause Kortney and Pratt were here from Texas and Kindy and Briley were here from Colorado. They had come for our annual trip to Roosevelt Lake and came early enough to come to the party. We were sad that Krista and her family had just left for Colorado, and weren't able to attend. Jeff and Chell came too of course cause they live here.

TOM, KRISTA, AND SWEET GRANDKIDS MOVE IN FOR A MONTH

The same day Chell and I got back from Texas, Krista and her family moved in with us for a month. They moved in on April 1st and Tom had a job interview in Greeley, Colo. on the 6th. He got the job and started a couple weeks later. Krista and the kids stayed with us until the first weekend in May and then they left to join him. It sure was fun having them here for a month, but not too fun having them leave!! :( I'm grateful Tom was able to get a job, since the bad economy has made it a lot harder. Just wish it could have been closer to home. I absolutely HATE having my family so far from me!! I miss them all so much!

BACK TO TEXAS!

Pratt had to fly to Tucson the end of March, to do some recruiting for the mine. Kortney had to work and so she was unable to go with him, so Kindy had this great idea that all of us girl's should fly out to stay with Kort. Kindy is all about flying everywhere now cause Nate works at the airport and they fly free! Krista and Tom were packing to move in with us since they had to be out of their house by the 1st of April, so she wasn't able to go with us (we were sad!). Chell and I drove to Albuquerque, New Mexico to catch a plane to Dallas. Kindy was going to be our tour guide and show us where to go to meet up with Kortney, but there was a slight problem. It was snowing so hard in Denver that they couldn't fly out!! So there we were at the DWF airport, not quite sure just what to do. We waited there a long time since Kort couldn't leave to get us until she was off work, then we headed out to try and get to Union Station to meet her. We caught a bus and then another bus took us to a train depot that I thought was Union Station, until I looked up and saw a sign that showed an arrow pointing to Union Station! The train had just pulled away!!
Kort came and rescued us (Thank Heaven's for her GPS, or she may never have found us!). Kindy thought she may be able to fly in the morning, so we got a motel room by the airport and stayed since it takes about 2 1/2 hours to get to Kort's house from there. Kindy and Briley FINALLY got in late the next night because there was a tornado watch in Dallas and they were delayed again!! We stayed another night in our motel and finally got to Kortney's house the next day. It turned out to be a really fun trip though.

Conor's birthday was March 6th, the day before Jordan's wedding. Krista threw him a little party for whoever was at Mel's house at the time. It was fun to have so many cousins there.

OUR TRIP TO TEXAS

Craig and I took a trip to see Kort and Pratt in Texas in February. We stopped to see my sister Jen's beautiful new home in Oklahoma on our way there. Pratt and Kort came up to meet us there and to see Jen and her family and new home too. It was so good to see all of them. I can't believe I didn't get a picture of her home while we were there, but I've never been real good at remembering to take pictures of everything. I did take my camera to the church when we went with them to sacrament meeting in a town about 20 miles south of where they live. The whole family spoke on missionary work which was such a treat for us to be able to listen to. They all did an "excellant" job. I love you all so much, thanks for the way you blessed our lives that Sunday!
We had a 4 1/2 hour drive ahead of us, so we followed Kort and Pratt to their house. It was a fun week even though they had to work, we were still able to have some good times together. They took us to Texas Roadhouse for dinner, where I had to say to heck with "weight watchers''!! It was so delicious. Thanks for the good time "ya'll"! We love and miss you both.

Our two New Year's Surprises!

Pratt and Kortney flew to Denver to spend Christmas with Nate and Kindy and their sweet new baby girl Briley. She was born December 5, 2008. Sounds like they had a fun week together. The day after Christmas, Nate and Kindy took them back to the airport to catch their plane back home and then without us knowing anything about it, they headed our way and surprised us with a visit. I was upstairs on the computer, Tom had gone to play basketball with some guys at the church and Craig, Krista and the kids were in the familyroom. A knock came at the door about 9:oo p.m. Krista jumped up to answer it thinking Tom had been locked out. She opened the door and found a baby in a carseat with a blanket covering her. She recognized the blanket as one Chell had made for Briley and got so excited! She brought her into the house telling us it was Briley, and of course Nate and Kindy came up the steps behind her. They said they wish they would have had their videocam going when Krista came to the door, cause she was so excited! She has waited so long for a neice or nephew to be born on our side of the family and was sad she would have to wait a while to see Briley. We were all so happy they came and stayed until Monday. We called Jeff and Chell to let them know they were here and even though they were already in bed, they didn't waste any time getting here! It was great to have them all here, and the only thing that would have made it better would have been if Pratt and Kortney would have come too.

January 14, 2009 Jeff and Chell dropped by our house with a little gift bag for us. I pulled out this onesy with really good news written on the front of it! We have waited 8 years for this, and we are so EXCITED!! The baby is due September 21. Congrats Jeff and Chell! We love getting more grandbabies!

FUN IN THE SNOW

The day after Christmas we all went up Water Canyon road and played in the snow. The kids had so much fun, I don't think they would have ever worn out! Krista and I stayed in the pick up most of the time with little Crew, cause it was cold. I don't like cold! We all enjoyed the hot chocolate that Papa provided for us.

FINALLY!
I finally got my pictures downloaded onto my computer and will attempt to do some blogging. I wanted to blog from the first of the year, but now I guess I will have to do some catching up.
Tom and Krista brought their sweet little family to our house for Christmas this year, which was such a treat for us. After all, isn't Christmas more fun with kids around! Jeff and Chell were here for Christmas eve and then went over to see her family in Taylor Christmas day.

Crew is such a good baby, he just laid there so patiently. Cutest Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus I've ever seen!

I have to wait for someone to help me and this time I am going to write everything down as we do it. I have some catching up to do, but will have to do that later.

I've wanted to start a blog for a long time now. I decided to make it a New Year's resolution, and by golly it's January 1st and I did it!!
I now have 4 precious grandchildren to blog about, Conor (6) Kya (4) Crew (4 months) and Briley (4 weeks).
